On a weekly grocery shop expedition to Woolworths, husbands have to drag their wives away from the ever alluring window display at this stylish boutique store. However with enough convincing the ladies stream through the doors to be captivated by the trendy designs and gorgeous outfits on offer. Situated at the entrance of Lifestyle on Kloof, Purr is one of the few boutiques, on the ever-evolving Kloof Street, that has been around for over 10 years.

Boutique owner Francisca Herloff-Petersen had a vision, which was to bring trendy, quality clothing to the Gardens area from a variety of South African designers. With her “love of fashion and making women feel confident.” Francisca has always had an understanding that clothes need to feel as good as they look, and buying clothes needs to be a truly delicious experience. An eye for detail and style is shown in all aspects of the shop, from how they colour coordinate garments on the rails to the way jewellery is displayed.

As you browse through the store, you can see the precision that has been taken in styling their mannequins, and how they perfectly pair each garment to a matching accessory so that customers can find everything in one store. Amarie, the sales assistant at the store, is incredibly helpful and you can immediately tell she isn’t trying to force you to purchase a product, but genuinely wants you to find something that suits your body shape and unique style.

Sifting through clothing, you will stumble across well-known South African brands such as Selfi, who sell quite affordable items, from flowing blouses to well fitted shorts and skirts. Cape Town designer Maya Prass showcases her detailed patterned wrap dresses in the store, which are perfectly paired with American designer shoes from Minnetonka. If you are looking for practical and stylish leather bags, they also feature bags from South African RedOker.
