No one enjoys walking back to their car after a lovely meal to find that it has been broken in to. Panic and anger might take over your ability to make a rational decision, however it’s best to remain calm and report it immediately. We have put together some steps to take, so that the process may be as stress free as possible.
- Your first call of action is to go to the nearest police station. If you do not feel safe please call our CID patrol officers ( GPCID 24 hour number: 082 214 3228, or OKCID 24 hour number: 082 217 1386) This will ensure that you have assistance at the scene as quickly as possible.
- Once at your local/nearest SAPS station you will report the incident, and remember to ask for the officers name. SAPS will SMS you a case number which is necessary for your insurance claim.
- Once the crime has been reported and a case number has been issued you need to phone your insurance company. They will assist you through the process, and inform you what measures should be taken to claim back from insurance.
- Drive your car to an enclosed safe parking area to avoid any further damage to the car.
Although the streets of Oranje-Kloof and Green Point are fairly safe and well monitored, these incidences do still occur – so it’s vitally important to remember to park in well lit areas, without any valuables on display.
