As I stepped in, two elegant grey-striped armchairs and a table with perfectly piled fashion magazines confirmed my first impression of entering the place where style and attention to detail are part and parcel of the brand.
With 18 years of expe
rience in the fashion retail industry, owner Dominic Evans decided to open The Tailor Shop five years ago. It has its roots in Dominic’s idea of fashion: something to feel beautiful in, something to get energy from and something to be happy for. This is reflected by the simplicity and class of the iron and wood furniture in the shop; as it demonstrates that fashion doesn’t need to be eccentric to be stylish, it’s more about the attitude. Sitting on the two armchairs at the entrance, in the blink of an eye I am carried away by Dominic’s joyful energy. “This shop is not my work”, he’s says, “but my passion”.
He started out by giving new life to old garments, and The Tailor Shop now offers a full range of tailoring services. Ten-year-old dresses you are emotionally attached to but are in need of a fashion update, as well as perfectly fitting suits impossible to find replacements for in shops and too old to still be worn, are daily issues Dominic has an answer for.
Both The Tailor Shop and its Studio on Bree Street go to great lengths to make each client’s life easier – with a home or office drop-off service to ensure your new garments arrive in your hands on time, wherever you are in town. And if you don’t have time to drop by The Tailor Shop to chat with Dominic about your next suit or your wedding dress, just set an appointment and he will knock at your door (or office) as soon as you want him to.
