We love featuring proudly South African businesses, which is why this week we decided to have a look at bluecollarwhitecollar in the Lifestyle on Kloof Centre.

Walking on Kloof Street, the old style shop window immediately captured my attention with its combination of fabrics and colours, highlighted by the dark wooden furniture inside the shop.

As I stepped into the shop I recognized the attention to detail in the interesting décor inside the shop, consisting of vintage books, dinky cars and some original motorcycle helmets.

Even though they were very busy with the reopening preparations, a shop assistant called Vanessa kindly answered all my questions about their brand philosophy and array of products on sale.

I was very pleased to find out that the stylish brand provides a women’s collection with playful shirts and mini dresses, where I was able to get some good shopping in for myself, even though the men’s section accounts for most of the merchandise in the shop. There are two main men’s lines: the Blue Collar, which gets its inspiration from the working class and boasts both edgy floral prints and relaxed shirts for day-to-day activities. And the White collar line which focuses on professionals and the classic gentlemen, so if you’re looking for the perfect shirt to match to your tailored suit this is definitely where you should go.

Bluecollarwhitecollar was born from the creative flair of the two co-founders Paul van der Spuy and Adrian Henekeare. After many years working in the fashion industry they decided to create something that could represent their lifestyle but at the same time should never be mass produced.

Strolling into their shop you won’t find the latest trend or avant-garde designs, but rather a unique array of carefully made garments with a retro chic taste, which will fit any taste or occasion. Quality and timelessness are the first words that come to mind, with all the products being made with care by highly skilled workers in small factories around Cape Town.

Whether you are looking for an original birthday present, the perfect work shirt or something nice to wear on a first date, stop by Bluecollarwhitecollar on Kloof Street and enjoy a friendly atmosphere paired with great quality clothing.
