Whether you trip and hurt yourself walking along Kloof Street, witness a car crash at a busy intersection in Green Point, or need medical assistance at your home – Community Medics should be your go to response team. Over the past few years they have been working closely with our GP/OKCID patrol units, and they maintain an impressive response time by focussing on small areas.
They maintain this track record by focusing on small areas and being community based. In the Atlantic Seaboard and City Bowl alone they have 33 medics who volunteer their time. On average there are 150 calls per month. 75% of these are day calls, compared to 25% at night.
Says Nick Nevin, Community Medics volunteer and Project Advisor for Health Solutions Africa, “we have a great working relationship with all service providers in the industry, and use the first available service to transport patients to the closest facility.”
ADT and ER24 are two of the primary sponsors, and we are proud to say that from August 2015 the GP/OKCID will be donating R5 000 to this incredible organisation. They are always looking for sponsors, volunteers and people to help out with fundraising and PR. So please get in touch if you’d like to find out more.
