Drop and give me 20. Going to the gym has become part of Cape Town culture, with fitness junkies receiving their daily fix by getting their heart racing at their local gym. However, unlike most gyms in the Mother City, OneUp Lifestyle Centre has decided to offer something truly unique to their visitors.
From a boxing club to a tattoo parlour, beauty salon and coffee shop, everything you may need to look on form for summer is under one roof at this lifestyle centre.
Six months ago, OneUp decided to open its doors to Capetonians at 39 Somerset Road in Green Point, offering specialised endurance and functional training from the likes of CFC (Cape Town Fight Club) and Pointbreak Fitness. The first of its kind in South Africa, these gymβs offer a variety of fitness programmes for everyone from the beginner to the advanced. OneUp aims to provide its customers with gymβs that offer complete body workouts so that they are left feeling completely satisfied after. All clients that train at OneUp, whether with a trainer or without, are surrounded by top professionals in their fields, so if by any chance they feel unsure about their workout, someone is just an armβs length away to help.
The two main gyms under their umbrella at OneUp are Point Break Fitness and Cape Town Fight Club, each offering completely different workouts. Β Ryan Botha from Point Break Fitness has been a trainer in the industry for a number of years, offering personal training and group class training to clients in order to reach their fitness goals. CFC offers a high intensity boxing workout for one-on-one or group classes, where a professional instructor will guide them through the process of boxing.
Other perks that have very little to do with fitness or training (but just as necessary) in the facility include TAGG Coffee Bar and Zhoosh Beauty Salon. TAGG, the onsite coffee bar, provides healthy workout snacks, shakes and top class coffee to enjoy after a strenuous workout. Zhoosh Beauty is the on-site salon that offers multiple treatments including Fake Bake spray tanβs, facials and waxes.Β Perfectly necessary for that post-workout glow on the beach!
The space is massive with different fitness and lifestyle facilities around each corner. Scott MacPherson, the owner of the gym, explains that a Pilates studio is on the horizon.
And other future plans for OneUp?
The team from Panache Communication behind the OneUp and CFC brand, explain that there are a number of campaigns and ideas in the pipeline for 2015/ 2016.
The first one is the prospect of partnering with Scheckterβs Organic Energy drink, where they will be hosting a Summer Boot Camp on the Sea Point Promenade. Scheckterβs and OneUp will be getting Capetonians summer ready with the help of their fitness instructors and of course a healthy energy boost from Scheckterβs.
If you are keen on getting fit and healthy, itβs never too late to start, without having to pay a joining fee or the first monthβs membership fee, you can get started with OneUp today.
Give them a call and ask them for a tour of their gym to kick start your summer fitness regime.
