Lolla Orchard, the founder and creative director of PRESENT space, is a designer herself and started the store because she wasnβt able to find a space that met her needs. Her goal with PRESENT space is to provide a space for designers that is there to help them, advise them and treat them and their products with respect. Lolla stocks a number of up and coming designersβ works in her store and a firm favourite has got to be ZANA products. ZANA create screen printed material which they transform into purses and handbags and these sell incredibly well in PRESENT space, and did so even before they became a global success. Another favourite in the store are FEAT Sock co. who create quirky socks with designs such as scenes of Cape Town, or prints of doughnuts and pizzas – at only R95 for a pair they are ideal as anniversary or birthday gifts.
What inspires Lolla in her personal and professional life? βAny and everything: clever people, makers of pretty things, places and spaces, sending designers sales reports with record sales, working in the shop and seeing peopleβs reaction to what we created,β she says.
PRESENT space will also be launching an online shop this year, where you can buy any of their fantastic products and get them delivered to your door.
From classic and simple to contemporary and unusual, Lolla has an eye for design and knows what will work well in her store. Having opened a second store just around the corner in the Lifestyle on Kloof Centre, their brand is only getting bigger and we cannot wait to follow their journey.
