The official opening of Parliament in Cape Town will be taking place on Thursday, 11 February 2016 at 7pm. As always, this occasion is marked by the president’s State of the Nation Address (SoNa). To avoid being stuck in traffic on Thursday, see the information below on the road closures for SoNa 2016.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
Road users are advised to use the following alternative routes to and from the CBD during the event:
N1 (FW de Klerk Blvd) or
M4 (Main Rd), onto Victoria Rd up to the Good Hope Centre. Thereafter left onto Tennant Rd or
Right onto Christiaan Barnard Rd to circle the outer CBD.
Outer CBD Circle Road: Use the following ring roads to/from the area of the CBD affecting you:
- Christiaan Barnard Rd.
- FW de Klerk Blvd.
- Walter Sisulu Ave.
- Buitengracht.
- Buitensingel St.
- Orange St.
- Loop & Long St’s.
- Strand St..
NB: All intersections with Roeland St are closed between 17:45 and 19:00
