With a splash of pink paint and a bold gold sign, Mr & Mrs is one of the most vibrant stores on Kloof Street. Walking through the bustling neighbourhood, you’ll find this store hidden between Melissa’s and Cocoa Oola. With patterned umbrellas and vintage bicycles surrounding their entrance, it sparks a curiosity in you that makes you want to walk in. And so I did…
Having opened their doors in 2005, they are now considered locals in the area. Cecil and Sarah Bosman are the brains behind the amazing brand and turned their love of travel, fashion and treasures in to something “drool worthy” as they like to say.
On my visit I was greeted by their passionate and helpful store manager Lo, who has been working for them for over six months. The shop boasts a resort feel with tropical prints and fresh flowers around every corner. Sarah has a keen eye for design and knows what she wants on her floor – so look out for a collection of luxurious South African designers, from Sitting Pretty to Kind Juilette. I Love Leroy, the Mr & Mrs brand, is a collection of stunning bold patterned dresses, shirts and pants made with quality materials, all which have been designed by Sarah.
Mr & Mrs might be targeted at the exclusive shopper with handmade scarves from India costing R1 400, but there is definitely something in their store for every budget. If you are looking for a gift for someone special their Laloo jewellery is handmade from silver and brass and will look great with any outfit. If you are just looking to spoil yourself with the ultimate household accessory, they also have beautiful handwoven throws and wall art. Lo is more than willing to assist you on your shopping journey, giving you suggestions along the way and telling you a bit about each designer. Mr & Mrs provides an unforgettable shopping experience, and this is the main reason that they have built a such strong reputation in the area.
Their clientele range from students and tourists to moms and husbands, all looking for one thing – a stunning piece to call their own.
