Compared to the 39 incidents reported in July’s incident report, we have seen quite a decrease with only 22 incidents reported in August. There was a slight increase in cases of crime that were reported, which stands at 23 compared to 18 in June. Despite this, it wouldn’t be possible to maintain such a low crime rate without the support of each person who has actively contributed to our efforts. We will continue to strive to make Green Point and Oranje-Kloof areas safe and enjoyable.
Only five theft-out-of-motor-vehicle incidents were reported in August compared to nine in July. That said, it’s important to keep in mind that if this happens to you, SAPS need to be informed immediately so our GP/OKCID team can increase vigilance and patrols in that specific location.
To further ensure your own safety, there are some crime hot spots that you should be aware of. That’s not to say you should never go there, but be alert in these areas and always be conscious of your surroundings: Cassel Road, The Pavilion Beach on Beach Road, and the area around Radison Hotel and Rocklands sub-station. These are hot spot areas for drugs, prostitution, people begging or criminals who mask themselves as homeless people.
Remember that we are here for you. If you don’t already have the correct GP/OKCID numbers saved on your phone, please be sure to add them so that you can give one of our team a call on 072 670 3019 or 072 944 6811 for assistance.
