The Green Point Urban Park can be described as a little piece of paradise for Capetonians! Whether you’re looking for a fun day out, a spot for your family picnic, somewhere to go on romantic walks or just an open area for a run, this is the place to be.
The park has been carefully designed and is home to a rich diversity of plants indigenous to the Cape. It features almost 25 000 indigenous trees and flowers, and almost 300 different plant species in the Biodiversity Showcase Garden. The wide paved path throughout the park allows for pedestrians, cyclists, children and even our furry friends.
Information boards and educational pockets also makes this the perfect place to learn more about South Africa’s biodiversity and to sharpen your flora knowledge. Anyone is welcome to enjoy picnics in the park, but remember that you can’t braai. To keep the peace and to give everyone a fair chance to enjoy all the park has to offer, no alcohol or loud music is allowed.
Get wonderfully lost this summer and explore a different side of Cape Town while soaking up the summer sun on a park bench. The park is open between sunrise and sunset, so you have ample time to get out and enjoy the fresh air. Also remember to tag us in your Green Point photos to be featured on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.
P.S. Don’t miss out on the Green Point Parkrun which takes place every Saturday. See the course page for more details.
