Top 3 things to do this summer

There is no surprise as to why Cape Town is known as one of the best cities in the world. It is a beauty with scenery that rivals any international destination. So, if you are staying in the city for the holidays do not despair, there is plenty to do and keep you joyous throughout this festive season. Whether you are looking for adventure or a chilled breezy day on the beach, we have you covered. Here are some ideas on how to spend your summer days in Cape Town.

Is hiking your thing?

The city is known for its beautiful trailblazing hiking spots, some are great for a nice casual walk with friends and others are for a gruelling sweat challenge (if you are up for it!). If you’re looking for a 360-degree view of the city, then Lions Head should be your first go-to spot. It has an unbelievable view of the city which will be great for all those selfies that you will take. The hike up this mountain is one of the easier ones compared to Table Mountain, so we do advise trying this one out and gauging from your strength, then you can soldier on to the more majestic Table Mountain. Remember Cape Town summers can be extremely hot, so make sure that you have all your hiking essentials with you such as proper hiking shoes, shorts or at least comfortable clothes that you can move in, at least 2 litres of water, sunscreen and your shades.

 Beach

Who doesn’t want to laze around the beach all day and get themselves a much-needed free tan. Cape Town is known for its fabulous clean beaches, perfect for surfing, swimming and rolling around in the sand. Some of the best beaches include; Camps Bay Beach, Llandudno beach and of course the beautiful Clifton Beach. Gather a couple of friends and just chill at these beaches for the rest of the day, just make sure to get there early, because at this time of the year the beaches tend to fill up with locals and tourists visiting our shores. What is also great about these beaches are the countless restaurants that are surrounding them, so when you are done swimming and surfing you can head down to any of the places for a couple of cocktails or a delicious meal.

Wine tasting anyone?

We have a plethora of beautiful vineyards that we can take advantage of in this beautiful summer. If you are looking to have a taste of some of the best wines in the world, then a wine tasting experience is what you need, that and a beautiful view to go with it! Some of the best wine estates you can try are the Asara Wine Estate and Hotel, DeGrendel and the lovely Cape Point Vineyards if you want a nice picnic spot as well. What makes these places lovely is that for most of them, it is not necessary to book. However, if you want a smooth journey and a hassle-free day, you can book in advance – just to put your mind at ease.

Whether you want to laze around at the beach, have a light picnic at one of our beautiful wine farms or if you are feeling adventurous and would enjoy a morning hike to start your day, the Mother City has you covered. You have no excuse to stay indoors, go out there and explore this city!
