February proved once again that your safety and comfort are our greatest concerns. We do our best, not only to address crime, but to discourage it. In keeping with this, we were able to significantly decrease criminal activity and therefore we only needed to make 10 arrests. Thank you for partnering with our team in keeping the city safe, we want to continue to encourage you to report incidents and let us know where we can improve.
As far as incidents are concerned, theft out of motor vehicle and motor vehicle accidents are prevalent, each with seven incidents in the last month. Being aware of your surroundings is the best offense. If you are uncomfortable driving or parking your car in a specific area, it is best to go elsewhere.
The second most reported incident is robbery with five reports last month. Here are some tips to help you not to be a target:
- Try not to walk around at night alone or in dark areas
- Do not check your phone in quiet areas, it distracts you from being aware of your surroundings.
- Always keep your valuables hidden.
Our services also include referring the homeless or marginalised adults and children to safe spaces, so please do not hesitate to contact our 24-hour call centre for assistance.
If you care about your community and would like to be part of our continued efforts to improve the area, why not become a board member? You can make a real impact and always be abreast of whatβs happening nearby. All we need from you is attendance at four board meetings a year. Find out more information here.
