Sofacompany: the furniture gallery in Green Point

Curating your home to perfectly suit your style is an art. These days there is so much choice, it becomes a challenge to find furniture you love. The good news is that if you are a Green Point resident, the solution is right on your doorstep – introducing the sophisticated Sofacompany.

The showroom has recently moved from 111 to 115 Waterkant Street, and expanded to a site across the road (72 Hudson Street).

When we asked Director Nicole Sherwin why they decided to stay in the area, she spoke to the exclusive yet accessible nature of Green Point. ‘It’s got a really lovely lifestyle vibe that creates artistic, eclectic offerings that are unique and not mall-focused.’ The perfect spot for a trend setting, furniture company.

Functional art

“We are a Danish online furniture store with showrooms in Cape Town and Kramerville,” says Sherwin. The furniture is arranged in a way that is akin to a high-end gallery rather than a store. Clients are able to stroll through the options and view each ‘piece’ with the assistance of a knowledgeable person on hand.

This is a far cry from the usual manner of purchasing furniture. The distinctly European culture of the brand comes through in the designs and manner that the store is run, making it different to anything else you will find in Cape Town. ‘Danish design is always leading the trend in furniture design,’ says Sherwin, ‘we offer genuine Danish hospitality, quality pieces at affordable prices.’

The most popular models of sofas include the Anne, Conrad, Johan and Holm ranges. To keep things fresh and exciting, the styles and colours of these creations are updated two to three times every year. This guarantees that the Sofacompany stays up to date and relevant with their offering.

Challenging the market

Sherwin goes on to explain that the reason the furniture is affordable is because the model is delivered directly from the factory to the customer. This gets rid of the retail middleman.

You can view the piece, ask your questions and then allow yourself time to visualise the purchase in your home. Once you have decided, you can purchase the it at your leisure online. It will then be delivered directly to you, no fuss involved.

The investors

In order to maintain a high-end brand, one needs to have the support of a dedicated team in both the clientele as well as the owners of the store. Sherwin and her brother are the South African counterparts to their Danish partners and supported by a full team of customer service, logistics, sales staff and an accounting and delivery team.

They truly enjoy their customer base and take pride in exceptional customer service. Of course, we at the GPCID are proud to assist in keeping the store happy in their ideal area. ‘It is very reassuring having their presence around us,’ says Sherwin.

We have enjoyed having this unique company in our area, and look forward to even more developments and an expansion which is set to happen in 2019.

For now, look out for the launch of a contracts division that will offer developers, designers, decorators and contractors the option to select from an even wider range of fabrics, styles and colours.
