Temporary road closures will be in place around the CBD and Green Point to accommodate the Cape Town Carnival which takes place this weekend. Read more below:
Β Residents and visitors are advised to take note of the temporary road closures which will be in place on Saturday 16 March 2019 to accommodate Cape Town Carnival event.
The following traffic restrictions will be in place:
- PublicΒ transportΒ servicesΒ thatΒ operateΒ alongΒ closedΒ orΒ restrictedΒ roadsΒ forΒ anyΒ portionΒ ofΒ theirΒ routesΒ may haveΒ someΒ routeΒ deviations
- NormalΒ scheduledΒ busΒ servicesΒ willΒ beΒ affectedΒ inΒ GreenΒ PointΒ and theΒ CBDΒ fromΒ 14:00Β onΒ SaturdayΒ 16Β MarchΒ 2019
- Parking restrictions will be enforced in residential areas adjacent to theΒ FanΒ Walk from 00:00 (midnight) on Friday 15 March 2019 to 01:00 on Sunday 17 March 2019. Motorists are advised to obey the posted signage
- Vehicle access permit holders can gain access to the following controlled access vehicle corridors in SomersetΒ Road:
oΒ Β Β BetweenΒ UpperΒ PortswoodΒ andΒ Vesperdene Roads
oΒ Β Β Between ExhibitionΒ TerraceΒ and AshsteadΒ Road
oΒ Β Β BetweenΒ HighfieldΒ (includingΒ theΒ SonΒ VidaΒ vehicleΒ entranceΒ gate)Β andΒ BoundaryΒ Roads
DedicatedΒ disability parkingΒ hasΒ beenΒ allocatedΒ atΒ GallowsΒ Hill.Β OnlyΒ peopleΒ withΒ anΒ officialΒ disabilityΒ permitΒ from theΒ CityΒ willΒ beΒ allowedΒ toΒ parkΒ inΒ thisΒ dedicatedΒ parkingΒ area.
