August was a stellar month for our recently appointed law enforcement officers(LEOs) – Amanda George, Lindiwe Magugu and Chuma Mpengesi – who were responsible for arresting the ATM fraudster who scammed two female tourists at an ATM on the corner of Kloof Street and Buitensingel Street on Women’s Day, 9 August 2019.
Following the notification of the theft, the three officers spotted the suspect running down Victoria Road. After a lengthy foot chase by the team, Officer George reached the suspect first and managed to single headedly arrest the criminal in the Cape Town Company’s Garden.
One week later, the same team arrested a criminal stealing City of Cape Town cables in Green Point.
We are incredibly proud of these officers as well as the whole GP/OKCID team that continues to deliver a premium security service in our areas.
This past month alone our law enforcement officers completed the following:
- Addressed 20 complaints
- Issued 37 written traffic violation notices
- Issued 12 compliance notices
- Led 20 clean-up operations including a clean-up of Napier Street and the Molteno Reservoir.
We encourage all residents, business owners and visitors in Green Point and Oranje-Kloof to keep our 24-hour patrol vehicle numbers on hand for assistance:
GP CID PATROL VEHICLE | 082 214 3228
