The Significance of World Consumer Rights Day

Every year on March 15th, World Consumer Rights Day is celebrated to raise global awareness about consumer rights and needs. This day serves as a reminder of the importance of consumer protection and empowerment in the marketplace.

This day has been observed since 1983 and it was inspired by President John F Kennedy’s address to the US Congress on March 15, 1962, in which he outlined the definition of consumer rights. This day is now an annual occasion for promoting the basic rights of all consumers, demanding that those rights are respected and protected and protesting about the market abuses and social injustices that undermine them.
