Kloof Street β the Β new home for Roche Bobois Paris. This brand was founded in 1950, France. It then opened up its first furniture store in 1965, in Belgium. It has become one of the worldwide leading purveyors of genuine handmade furniture, with over 250 stores in 50 countries, globally.
Art de Vevre is the new trendsetter in furniture that is echoing in the mother city. The Roche Bobois Paris showroom has a French-styled theme and conjures a sense of magic, elegance and perfection. Their exclusive range of furniture is well priced and consists of items that are made-to-order.
βAll the showrooms in the world are very aligned and have to reflect a unique brand identity. We are in contact with the headquarters in Paris every day to make sure that we are all on the same page, no matter what country,β says Charlotte Bermond, the sales associate at the Kloof Street store.
Roche Bobois Paris has five other stores in Africa including Morocco, Mauritius, Algeria, Ivory Coast and Tunisia. Within just a few months of launching in South Africa, Roche Bobois will soon be opening two more furniture stores: βthe South African market represents a great development opportunity for Roche Bobois. After the opening of the Cape Town showroom, the objective is to open another showroom in Johannesburg and later Durban. One goal is to make Johannesburg a luxury furniture hub for the border countries such as Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Namibiaβ says Charlotte.
Roche Boboisβ range includes French-styled furniture, from dining tables and chairs to sofas, cocktail tables, beds, armchairs, wardrobes and sideboards; to accessories, such as lighting, cushions and rugs; all handmade in a small town workshop, in France.
All their designers are world renowned, such as the likes of the famous Sacha Lakic, Christopher Delcourt, Cedric Ragot and Stephen Burks. There is also a string of haute fashion gurus, such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Sonia Rykiel Maison.
The latest design – the bubble sofa, which was entirely made by hand by Roche Boboisβ maestro Sacha Lakiv, is the next show-stopper. Sacha continues to dazzle Roche Boboisβ customs of fine art, with his unique and rare talent. The bubble sofa is made with hi-tech 3D fabric, designed to mould the sofa in three directions to look like a cloud of honeycombs, which is mainly made up of wool. The fabric is deliberately made to give a βlight feelβ, a sense of vibrant comfort and sophistication.
