Tzatziki, hummus and cured olives. Finding authentic and tasty Greek food in Cape Town is no easy task, and requires plenty of research and time to do tastings; so we decided to stop by the latest addition to the Lifestyle on Kloof centre to find out what all the hype was about.
Over the years this little centre has become a hub of some of the best stores in the area, from art and fashion to artisanal foods. As the name suggests itβs a one-stop-shop filled with lifestyle products you just canβt go without, which is why the Olive Branch Deli is the perfect fit for them.
Itβs hidden behind the SureTravel store, but lingering aromas draw you in and ensure no potential customers walk past!Β Omeros Demetriou part owner of the store, runs the quaint Olive Branch Deli with the assistance of his knowledgably and passionate sister. Having first started out as a joint venture with their father, their makeshift deli outgrew Savvas & Sons Watches, and soon it was time for them to branch off on their own. And so two weeks ago their journey beganβ¦
Olive Branch Deli combines everything a classic deli in Cape Town would offer but with a unique twist that makes you want to come back for more. With olives being cured inside the Deli, you can enjoy a front row seat to watch artisanal food in the making. Omeros explains that all their age old recipes have been passed down from their father who was the driving force behind them starting their business.
Walking around the store you can find anything from imported olive oil to Californian cashew nuts to delicious humus and homemade jams.Β The deli is filled with delicacies from around the world that are bound to tantalise your taste buds. And if you are ever unsure about a product, donβt hesitate to ask the brother sister duo anything about their stock, as they will happily make suggestions along the way.
This family affair is one to watch, offering a taste of the Mediterranean right on Kloof Street.
