Looking for a new spot to grab some grub and look cool doing it? Although we’ve had to say goodbye to a couple crowd favourites and local hangouts since the start of the pandemic, we’re delighted to be ushering in a new era of restaurants and bars across the city. Here are four exciting newcomers who have been making waves over the last few months:
1. Chapter One
Proof that humble beginnings don’t lack bold and brave dreams, Chapter One is the latest offering by chefs, Eloise Martin and Jason Labuschagne. Proudly owned and run by the duo, Chapter One symbolises a new beginning and fresh start. Their seasonal menu uses simple, high-quality ingredients to produce small plates and tapas that capture the senses and tantalise the tastebuds.
2. Blondie
The second of two locations, Blondie Bar Cape Town is conveniently located on trendy Kloof Street. Serving up deep-dish pizza and spirits aplenty from Tuesday to Sunday between 1 pm and 10 pm, Blondie is fast becoming the go-to local favourite for Millennials and Gen Zs in the Gardens area.
3. Misfits
Serving up breakfast, light lunches, three-course dinners and an array of killer cocktails, Misfits is the newest member of the Ideas Cartel family. Located in the heart of Green Point, Misfits boast a menu of many options including sushi, pizza, burgers and breakfasts. With both indoor and outdoor dining areas, Misfits is proudly pet-friendly and makes for a great spot to host your summer events. They do have a very specific operating schedule, so before you show up, we recommend calling ahead or booking a table online.
4. Tagine
Part of the No Name Hospitality Group, Tagine is the latest embodiment of their passion for creating beautiful spaces in and around Cape Town. Located in the picturesque area of De Waterkant, Tagine pays homage to the beauty of culture that spans the Middle East, Morocco and the Mediterranean regions. Should you pay this eclectic space a visit, we recommend their signature sharing-style tagine. they’re open for breakfast, brunch and lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and then for dinner Tuesdays through Saturdays.
